On May 3, 1825, Josiah Wilson, planter of Liberty County, made a promissory note for $2700 to the Bank of Darien. Oliver Stevens, also a planter of Liberty County, acted as co-signer. To protect Stevens against loss, Wilson mortgaged to him “all and each of the following negroes, slaves, together with the future increase of the females, that is to say, Friday, Cato, Nelly, Lucy, Abram, Bella, Dinah, Sue, Peter and Isaac.” Witnessed by James Holmes, Am. Jas. Somarsall. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on May 26, 1825.
