On September 20, 1837, Edwin H. Bacon, Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $3754 to Augustus O. Bacon, Liberty County, “the following negro slaves viz. Big Cracker, Joe, Frank, Big Camb [or Canib], Caesar, Old Hannah, Big Tenah, Big Naney [alt: Nanny], Kate, Diannah, Zet, Nancy, Rachell, Sam, Cooper Harry, Big Harry, Little Harry, Israil [alt: Israel], Abram, Little Cracker, Toby, Jackson, Little Camb, Cuff, George, Little Tenah, Rosannah, Charlotte, Newton, Lyndy [alt: Lindy], Jane & Bob, with the future increase of the females (twenty nine of the above negroes are mortgaged to Dr. R. Harris to secure a note & draft on which I am endorsed) In all other respects the property is unencumbered…” Witnessed by S.W. Bacon, T.J. Bacon. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on November 3, 1837.

Written on the above deed was a release by Augustus O. Bacon of the mortgage on “the following negro slave (viz) Big Cambe, Old Hannah, Big Tena, Big Nanny, Kate, Dianna, Jane, Rosanna, Charlotte, Lindy, Jane and Bob” dated March 1, 1838.

The original deed was marked as satisfied as of February 1845 per Sarah H. Bacon, guardian of A.O. Bacon, minor. Satisfaction recorded on March 3, 1845.
