Enslaved Persons Named: Toney, Amy, Betsey, Edwin, Richard, Jane, Beck, Alfred, Rinah, Phebe, Eve, Lucy (old), Ben

On March 6, 1837, David Anderson, acting as attorney for his brother William J. Anderson, acknowledged receipt from Joseph Jones, administrator of his father William Anderson’s estate, “the following thirteen negro Slaves named Toney, Amy, Betsey, Edwin, Richard, Jane, Beck, Alfred, Rinah, Phebe, Eve, /old Lucy/ and Ben.” He stated that this was one-fifth of the slaves belonging to the estate, valued at $6850 by the appraisers, Charles West, Thomas Quarterman, and William Dunham. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on March 7, 1837.
