On May 29, 1837, David Anderson, guardian of the minor heirs of the William Anderson estate and agent for his mother, acknowledged receipt of “the following negro slaves from Joseph Jones, the administrator /viz/ Will, Farmer, Jack, Hardtimes, Mary, Celia, Jim, Dianna, Cain, Agrippa, Kate, Amanda, Charles, Betty, Russell, Tyrone, Jim, Stephen, Pharoah, Lucy, Daniel, Joe, Rose, O. Venus, July, Bella, London, Harriett, Fermer, Viney, George, L. Lucy, Phillis, Ferdinand, D. Bob, Dinah, L. Celia, Ned, Y. Bob, Hannah, James, Rose, Louisa, Cornelia, Celia, Cutjoe [alt: Cudjoe], June, Miley and Sam, making forty-nine Slaves appropriated by Doctor Charles West, Thomas Quarterman and William Dunham Esqrs to the [word blurred] of Twenty Eight Thousand and Twenty Seven dollars $28027 on the 4th February 1837 as qualified appraisers, being the remaining negroes of the Estate and owned jointly by the minor Heirs /to wit/ Sarah Anderson Susan ?Marion? Anderson & Andrew Joseph Anderson and Mrs. Mary [initial blurred] Anderson my mother / and widow of said William Anderson / making four heirs to said negroes slaves…” Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on June 2, 1837.
