On April 4, 1836, Dr. Charles West, Liberty County, “practitioner of medicine,” used as collateral on a promissory note of $850 to John O. Baker, planter of Liberty County, “the following negro slaves viz, Stepny [alt: Stepney] & his wife Lilley [alt: Lilly], Isaac & Bob – together with the future issue…” Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on May 19, 1836. [NOTE: Marked as satisfied in full as of May 17, 1844.]
