On August 8, 1836, William Hughes, planter of Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $1120.39 to Uriah Wilcox, trader of Liberty County, “a certain female Slave named Bell & her five children, Sam, Henry, Mary, March & Prince, together with the future issue & increase of the females…” Witnessed by Raymond Cay, Thos. [Thomas] B. Wheeler. Probated by Raymond Cay on August 12, 1836. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on September 12, 1836. [NOTE: Marked satisfied as of May 10, 1841. Satisfaction recorded on May 22, 1841.]
