On August 13, 1835, James S. Bradwell used as collateral on a promissory note of $450 to Nathaniel Law “two certain negro slaves named Jack & his wife Vinna or Winney…” Witnessed by Eli McFail and Jas. M. Smart. Probated by McFail on February 10, 1836. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on February 19, 1836. [NOTE: Written on this deed was: “Transferred to me by John B. ?Barnard? Admor of est. N. Law. (signature illegible)” Then “Satisfied in full 3d August 1844 Wm. B. Gaulden”]
