On April 25, 1836, Artemas Baker, planter of Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $900 to John O. Baker, planter of Liberty County, “the following negro slaves viz; Melissa & her daughter Georgianna, Nanney [alt: Nanny] & Clarinda & issue.” Witnessed by Mary E. Robarts, John Dunwoody, J.I.C.L.C. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on May 12, 1836.
