On March 22, 1834, John W. Stacy, planter of Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $337.90 to Uriah Wilcox, trader of Liberty County, “two certain male slaves named Dick & Peter & two female slaves named Patty & Tenah, together with the future issue and increase of the females.” Witnessed by George W. Dunham, J.P. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on March 22, 1834. [NOTE: Satisfaction in full received as of January 3, 1843, and recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on March 8, 1843.] [NOTE: Attached to this deed was a note stating that “the woman Tenah mentioned in the above mortgage released from the same by Oliver Stevens adm’r of the est. U. Wilcox May 16, 1841. See Book L. folio 281.”]
