On January 14, 1834, Thomas Quarterman, planter of Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note for $3500 to John W. Anderson and George W. Anderson, copartners under the name George Anderson & Son, “the following negro slaves, to wit, Jacky, Nancy, Edwin, Evelina, Titus, Barrack, Kate, Pulaski, Stephen and John…” Witnessed by George W. Walthour, T.W. Quarterman. Recorded on Liberty County Superior Court on February 3, 1834. [NOTE: Marked on the deed was “Satisfied Savannah 19 March 1845 G.W. Anderson & Brother. Recorded 4th April 1845. J.S. Bradwell Clerk.”]
