On February 28, 1833, Henry Munro Stevens, planter of Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $3350 to Anthony Porter, “gentleman” of Chatham County, “the following named negro slaves, namely, Dembo, Lydia, Isaac, Willcope [Will Cope], Charlotte, Jacob, Binah, London, Sylla [alt: Scylla], Old Will, Nancy, Tenah, Frank, Isaac, Jem [or Jim], Billy,name: possibly Henry or Harry], Diana, Mary Ann, Sarah and Nelson, and the future issue and increase…the said negro slaves, being twenty one in number…” Witnessed by Jon. Olmstead, N.W. Jones Bulloch, Jno. [John] Cumming, J.I.C.C.C. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on March 28, 1833. [NOTE: Marked as satisfied.]
