On January 11, 1833, Thomas J. Shepard, of Riceborough in Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $2490 to Gaudry & Legriel, of Savannah, “the following negro slaves, Jacob, Tom, Pompey, Duffy, Tenah & John her child, Mazer & her child Jonas, & Jane…with the future increase of the said female slaves…”  Witnessed by Elias Fort, J.I.C.C.C. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on April 5, 1833.  [Marked as Satisfied in full as of April 6, 1836. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on May 5, 1836, by Clerk Thomas J. Shepard.]
