On February 25, 1833, David A. Miller, planter of Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $1159.95 to Uriah Wilcox, a trade of Liberty County, “a certain female slave named Hannah & her two children Maria & Tirah [or Tinah] & five other female slaves named Nanny, Hagar, Lily, Harriet & Sarah; likewise, four male slaves named Frank, Tom, Dublin, & Cudjoe, together with the future issue & increase of the females…” Also used as collateral was “all that tract or plantation of land, known as Navarre, situate in the County & State aforesaid, bounded on the North by lands of Major Wood & Major Bulloch, on the East by lands of William Jones, on the South by lands of LeConte & on the West by lands of Smith S. Hart, containing three hundred & sixty acres more or less.” Witnessed by M.L. Jones and Jos. Andrews, J.P. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on February 22, 1833.
