On April 5, 1833, John B. Cassels, planter of Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $79.95 to Uriah Wilcox, trader of Liberty County, “two certain male slaves named Richerson & Richard.” [NOTE: names as seen in text.] Witnessed by Joseph Andrews, J.P. Recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on April 8, 1833.
