Enslaved Persons Named: Tira, Will

On May 5, 1829, two “negro slaves” named Tira and Will were sold to Alexander M. McIver for $350 after having been seized from James A. Maxwell by Liberty County sheriff Benjamin Mell upon foreclosure of a mortgage and put up for sale at the Riceborough courthouse. Tira and Will were said to be “the property of the said estate of James Lambright.” Witnessed by Thomas Baker and E. Baker, Liberty County Superior Court Clerk, and recorded by the latter on August 29, 1833.
