Enslaved Persons Named: Betty, Diana

On April 19, 1832, William Hughes, Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $400 to Edward Pynchon “certain negro slaves named Betty & Diana.” Witnessed by William J. Way, J.I.C., and recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on May 3, 1832. Pynchon acknowledged payment in full of the note on January 12, 1835, and satisfaction of the mortgage was recorded in Liberty County Superior Court on May 5, 1835.
