On February 21, 1832, George W. Walthour, of Liberty County, executor of Jno. [John] S. Mell’s estate, of Liberty County, sold to William Jones, of Liberty County, “a negro man slave named Guy, about thirty seven years old, the property of the estate of the said Jno S. Mell deceased.” Witnessed by E. Baker, C.S.C.L.C. and recorded by the same on February 23, 1832.
