On April 10, 1842, John E. Mann used as collateral on a promissory note of $172.50 to William G. Martin “the following property namely one negro boy named Peter aged twenty years one bay horse about nine years old & one buggy carriage…” Witnessed by J.E. Zoucks, D. Zoucks, J.P. Recorded on June 24, 1842, by E. Way, Clerk.
