Enslaved Persons Named: Letty

On February 14, 1835, William Spencer sold to C. Hines for $160 “a Negro girl of four years old the property of the Estate of Major John Bacon and drawn from the Estate by one [of] William Spencer’s children the girl is the daughter of Letty now belonging to Mrs. Mary Bacon.” Witnessed by Charlton Hines. Recorded on December 31, 1841. [NOTE: Unfortunately, the 4-year-old girl was not named in this record.]
