On July 6, 1841, Alexander W. Stephen, Planter of Bryan County, trustee of the children of James S. Wilkins, used as collateral on a promissory note of $350 to James D. Stevens, Liberty County, administrator of the estate of Paul H. Wilkins, late of Chatham County, “a certain negro slave named Scipio…” Witnessed by N.J. Clark, Charles A. Harden, J.P. Recorded on October 6, 1841, by E. Way, Clerk.
