On March 31, 1841, Rich’d [Richard] Axson sold to Moses L. Jones for $1800 “the following Negro Slaves to wit Toby Robbin Renate Lucy Peter and Joe…” Witnessed by W.B. Fleming, Not. Pub., S. Spencer. Recorded on June 14, 1841, by E. Way, Clerk. [NOTE: This deed was noted as having been filed in Chatham County but was recorded in Liberty County. Moses L. Jones did live in Liberty County so perhaps Axson was from Chatham County.]
