Enslaved Persons Named: Smart, Diana [alt: Diannah], Elsey [alt: Elsy], Prince, Mary

On May 1, 1838, in Lowndes County, Jonathan Gaulden gifted to his son Wm. [William] B. Gaulden “the following slaves viz. Smart a boy about seventeen years old Diana a woman aged twenty years and her female child Elsey nine months old Prince a boy aged ten years Mary a girl aged eight years…” Witnessed by William Hendry, Albert J. Gaulden. In Lowndes County, Albert J. Gaulden probated Jonathan Gaulden’s signature before John Edmonson, J.P. Recorded October 17, 1861, by E. Way, Clerk [of Liberty County].
