On December 19, 1841, Amanda Sarah Mara, Liberty County, sold to Mr. Wm. [William] R. McDonald for $500 “a certain negro slave named Rachel. Witnessed by B.B. King, Thos. [Thomas] W. Quarterman, J.P. Recorded on March 15, 1841, by E. Way, Clerk. [NOTE: Her name was given as Amanda S. Mara in the document, but it was signed Sarah Amanda Mara.
