On December 10, 1840, James S. Bradwell used as collateral on a promissory note of $153 to Mrs. Susan S. Arthur “two certain Negro Slaves viz Louisa and Isaac…” Witnessed by W.P. Girardeau, S. Boggs J.P. Recorded on December 12, 1840, by E. Way, Clerk. [NOTE: Marked as satisfied by Susan Arthur as of February 12, 1842. Satisfaction recorded on February 19, 1842.]
