On May 22, 1840, in Chatham County, Samuel Spencer, of Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $1000 to R & W King of Savannah “the following named Slaves with the issue of the females (viz) Jacob, Gib, & Rachel…” Witnessed by Joseph Law, W.B. Fleming, Not. Pub. Recorded in Liberty County on June 6, 1840, by E. Way, Clerk.
