On February 26, 1840, Simeon S. Moody, Liberty County, sold to John B. Mallard for $750 “my Negro Slave Tom about Thirty Eight years of age…” Witnessed by Wm. [William] J. Way, J.I.C.L.C. Recorded on June 30, 1840, by Edwd Way, Clerk.
