On February 25, 1847, William E. Scriven [alt: Screven], Liberty County, sold to Thomas S. Mallard, also of Liberty County, for $500 “the following negro namely, Moses about thirty two years of age…” Witnessed by G.W. Dunham, J.I.C. Recorded on April 30, 1847, by J.S. Bradwell, Clerk.
