On July 22, 1846, John W. Stacy used as collateral on a promissory note to the executors of John Lambert’s estate (Thomas Mallard, E. Stacy, W.Q. Baker, W. Jones & John B. Mallard) “the following named slaves with the issue of the females, to wit Tony, Sam, and Will…[rest of name illegible]. Witnessed by M.W. Way, W.E.W. Quarterman, J.I.C. Recorded on Septemeber 18, 1846, by J.S. Bradwell, Clerk. [NOTE: Written on this deed was “Satisfied this 1 March 1851 E. Stacy Act. Exor. Lambert. Recorded 7 March 1851 J.S. Bradwell Clerk.”]

 [NOTE: Although this deed only named John W. Stacy, on the page before it, both John Stacy and S.S. Moody signed the promissory note.]
