On June 23, 1846, Joseph F. McGowen, Liberty County, sold for $500 to Gideon McGowen, also of Liberty County, his “life time estate to the following negro slaves viz Grace, Diannah, Nanny, Myly [alt: Miley], Polydore, Frederick, John, Tenah and her child Sam, Willoughby and her three children Rozena, Louisa and Susan.” Witnessed by B. Griffin, G.W. Dunham, J.I.C.L.C. Recorded on August 22, 1846, by J.S. Bradwell, Clerk.
