On February 2, 1846, Thomas W. Fleming and J.S. Fleming used as collateral on a promissory note of $300 to the executors of John Lambert’s estate (Thomas Mallard, E. Stacy, W.Q. Baker, W. Jones & John B. Mallard) “the following negro slaves with the issue of the females to wit Daphny about thirty two years of age…” Witnessed by Wm. [William] S. Baker, S.A. Fraser, J.I.C. Recorded on March 14, 1846, by J.S. Bradwell, Clerk. [NOTE: Written on this deed was “Satisfied W.Q. Baker Acting Exor 2d June 18 1847. Recorded 4 June 1847. J.S. Bradwell, Clerk.”]
