On February 4, 1846, Edward Quarterman, Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note to Moses L. Jones, agent for the Reverend Q. Way, “now of China,” “the following negro slaves viz Bram, Sambo, Venua, Tena [alt: Tenah], and Isaac…” Witnessed by W. Harrison, W.T.E. Baker, C. Hines, J.I.C. Recorded on February 17, 1846, by J.S. Bradwell, Clk. [NOTE: Written on this deed was “Satisfied in full this 20th May 1852. R.Q. Way. Edward Quarterman Agent. Entered this 20th May 1852. S.A. Fraser, C.S.C.L.C.”]
