Enslaved Persons Named: Russell
On April 16, 1845, W.E.W. Quarterman, Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $300 “a certain negro man named Russell.” Quarterman had given the promissory note to Way & King of Savannah, but since it had been endorsed by Thomas Q. Cassels, also of Liberty County, he used the enslaved man as collateral to better secure the note. Witnessed by J.S. Bradwell, S.A. Fraser, J.I.C.L.C. Recorded on March 19, 1845, by J.S.
