On February 1, 1845, William J. King, McIntosh County, sold to William Law, Chatham County, for $3950 “the following named negro slaves, to wit, old Will, Sam, Samson [alt: Sampson], young Toney [alt: Tony], Scipio, John, Nancy, Jackey [Jacky], Eve, Samuel…” Witnessed by R. Cay, Chas Stebbins. Probated by R. Cay and C. Stebbins before Thos. W. Quarterman, J.P. Recorded May 13, 1845, by J.S. Bradwell, Clk.

[NOTE: Most of these names were in Thomas Quarterman’s 1857 and 1858 estate inventories. Worth looking into further.]
