McGowen, Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $259.61 to Raymond Cay, described as a merchant of Liberty County, “a certain male Slave named Robert…” Witnessed by Thos. [Thomas] W. Norman, Thos. W. Wheeler, B. Griffin. Recorded on April 16, 1844, by J.S. Bradwell, Clk.
