On February 27, 1844, Wm. [William] B. Gaulden used as collateral on a promissory note of $532.50 to Charles T. Chapman, Chatham County, “two certain slaves, viz Prince a boy aged (16) sixteen, and Lecinetia [or Lucretia] a girl aged twelve years (12).” Witnessed by J. Hauthorn, Leonidas Wylly J.P. Recorded on March 1844 by J.S. Bradwell [Liberty County Superior Court] Clerk. [NOTE: Written on this deed was “Satisfied in full 28 June 1845. Chas. Chapman. Recorded 8th Aug 1845. J.S. Bradwell, Clk.”]
