On February 25, 1843, William B. Gaulden of Liberty County used as collateral on a promissory note of $800 payable in 60 days to Levi S. D’Lyon of Chatham County “the following negro slaves viz Prince, Smart, and Flander, “now in the county of Liberty…” Witnessed by Zell Winkler, M. Myers, J.I.C.C.C. [NOTE: Written on the above deed was “Satisfied in full this 1st day of May 1843. J.S. Bradwell, Deputy Clerk.”] Recorded on April 17, 1843, by J.S. Bradwell, Deputy Clerk.
