Marriage Contract (Jones/Anderson)

On January 18, 1843, Evelyn Elouisa Jones, of Walthourville, entered into a marriage contract with Joseph A. Anderson, of the same place, with Charles B. Jones and Henry H. Jones as her trustees. “Whereas the Evelyn E. Jones is now lawfully seized and possessed of the following real & personal Estate, to wit: all the one fourth part of that Plantation Tract or parcel of Land containing seven hundred and eighty two acres more or less, together with all the future claim right title and interest in said Land which might fall or come to Marion S. Anderson her Heirs or Assigns unto the said Evelyn E. Jones conveyed by the said Marion S. Anderson her guardian Joseph A. Anderson in lieu of exchange of Lands formerly owned by S.S. Hart situate between and adjoining lands belonging to B. Griffin, G.W. Walthour Revd Mr. Howe, Joseph Bacon Est of Bacon S.S. Hart James McCollough and Known as the Estate of William Anderson old plantation in Liberty County & the following Negro Slaves to wit: Lizzy Trim Sarah Toney Ben Jim an infant and Georgia, seven in number…” In view of the intended marriage between Evelyn Jones and Joseph Anderson, the above property and any other property she might become possessed of was transferred to her trustees Charles B. Jones and Henry H. Jones. It was specified that this included “all that above described plantation or Tract of Land with all the future Claim right Title and interest in said Land which may come or fall to the said Marion S. Anderson, now conveyed unto said Evelyn E. Jones in consideration of Exchange of Lands together with all and Singular the hereditaments rights members and appurtenances to the same…” etc. Witnessed by Jos. Jones, James N. Jones. Probated by Joseph Jones before James R. Bird, J.I.C.L.C., on March 6, 1843. Recorded on March 7, 1843, by E. Way, Clerk.
