On February 5, 1853, John Stoddard, executor of the estate of W.H. Mongin, sold for $300 to Wm. [William] B. Gaulden Esqr. “the negro Slave named John Russell…” The sale took place in Savannah, but was recorded in Liberty County on October 10, 1853, by [Liberty County Superior Court] Clerk S.A. Fraser.
