Enslaved Persons Named: Eliza, John, William, Billy

On March 23, 1853, Thomas C. Nisbet, administrator of the estate of Louis LeConte, sold to Thomas W. Fleming for $1200 “the following negro slaves viz. Eliza, John, William and Billy” after receiving permission of the Liberty County Court of Ordinary for the sale. They were advertised, and “exposed to public sale” at Hinesville on March 1, 1853, and were “knocked off to William Jones for Thomas W. Fleming.” Witnessed by Amos Benton, J.P., Geo. R. Barker, Henry Clarke, Henry W. Tindall. Recorded on April 26, 1853 by [Liberty County Superior Court Clerk] S.A. Fraser.
