Enslaved Persons Named: Emerline

On March 1, 1852, Mary J. Bacon, Liberty County, gifted to her granddaughter Flora Ellen Fraser, both of Liberty County, “a certain yellow girl named Emerline eleven months old and her future issue and increase…” Emerline was conveyed to Simon A. Fraser in trust for Flora during her [Flora’s] natural life, and then to be inherited by any children of her. If Flora were to die before marrying, Emerline was to revert to Mary J. Bacon or her estate. Witnessed by J.R. Bacon, W.E.W. Quarterman, J.I.C.L.C. Recorded on April 22, 1852.
