On December 8, 1851, E.H. Bacon, Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $4519 to Sarah H. Bacon, guardian of Augustus O. Bacon, a minor, “the following negro slaves viz. Big Cracker, Joe, Ceasar [alt: Caesar], Frank, Kate, Patty, Rebecca, Isreal [alt: Israel], Rosanna, Abram, Little Cracker, Tena, Harry, George, Newton, Cuff, Carnib, Big Carnib, Big Charlotte & her three children France August & Nanny. Witnessed by H.H. Bacon, Thos. [Thomas] J. Bacon, J.I.C.L.C. Recorded on January 10, 1852, by J.S. Bradwell, Clk. [NOTE: Written on this deed was “The above mortgage satisfied in full this 24th April 1863. A.O. Bacon. Signed in presence of T.W. Connoery R.W. Cubbedge Notary Public. Entered this 30th June 1863. S.A. Fraser, Clerk.”]
