On May 9, 1840, G.B. Dean paid $1700 to S. Spencer “for the following negro slaves viz. Phillis and her children Sylvia Bella Matilda Sam and Cretia…” Witnessed by E. Way, E.H. Bacon. Recorded on August 19, 1851.
