On April 11, 1851, W.E.W. Quarterman and L.S. Quarterman used as collateral on a promissory note to the executors of John Lambert’s estate (Thomas Mallard, Ezra Stacy, William Q. Baker, William Jones, and John B. Mallard) “the following property to wit two negro slaves Jack about eleven years of age and Dick about 11 years of age…” Witnessed by J.W. Stacy, E.Q. Andrews, J.I.C. Recorded on May 20, 1851. [NOTE: Written on this deed was “Satisfied in full E. Stacy Act. Exor. Est. John Lambert. Recorded this 25th day of March 1864. Jesse Brewer, Clerk.”]
