Enslaved People Named: Cudjoe, Cretia
On March 1, 1851, William S. Norman and S.S. Moody used as collateral on a promissory note to the executors of John Lambert’s estate (Thomas Mallard, Ezra Stacy, William Q. Baker, William Jones, and John B. Mallard) “the following property to wit Cudjoe and Cretia with the issue of the females, Cudjoe being about thirty years old and Cretia about thirty five years old.” Witnessed by John W. Stacy, S.A. Fraser, J.I.C. Recorded on March 27, 1851. [NOTE: Written on this deed was “Satisfied in full. Jno. B. Mallard. Exor John Lambert. Feby 27, 1863. Entered this 3d March 1863. S.A. Fraser, Clerk.”]
