Enslaved Persons Named: Robert, Raca, Corine

On May 8, 1849, Thomas Chesser, Liberty County, sold for $500 to his son William T. Chesser “the following negroes to wit a negro man named Robert aged about thirty five years of dark complexion five feet [number omitted] inches high also Raca his wife a woman about thirty seven years of age of yellow complexion about five feet two or three inches high and Corine a girl about ten months old the daughter of Raca to have and to hold the said negroes Robert, Raca & Corine…” Witnessed by Wm. [William] B. Gaulden, J.W.A. Fennel, Albert Knight. Recorded on October 1, 1849, by J.S. Bradwell, Clerk.
