Enslaved Persons Named: Lyzzy, Tony, Sarah, Ben, Jim, Robert, George, Mariah, Affee, Molley, Peggy, Mariah [or Muriah], Matilda, Sam, Dianna, Paul, Little Sam, Sylvia [alt: Silvia], Dembo, Phillis, Lucinda, Flora, Rachel, Rachel, [illegible name starting with T]

On February 24, 1847 Joseph A. Anderson, on behalf of his wife E.E. Anderson, acknowledged receipt from “our mother” E.S.L. Jones, “executrix to our father Jos. Jones estate the following amt in money bank stock and land together with twenty five negro slaves to wit [illegible name starting with T] Lyzzy Tony Sarah Ben Jim Robert George Mariah Affee Molley Peggy Mariah [or Muriah] Matilda Sam Diannah Paul Little Sam, Sylvia [alt: Silvia] Dembo, Phillis, Lucinda Flora [one word illegible] Rachel and T. [or F.] Rachel,” amounting to the sum of $7696.46, as well as ¼ of a plantation known as “the estate of Anderson”. “And be it known to all persons that we J.A. Anderson and Charles B. Jones and each of us are held and bound unto the said E.S.L. Jones in the sum of seven thousand six hundred and ninety six dollars forty six cents to be paid to the said E.S.L. Jones as Executrix…” Witnessed by T.W. Quarterman, J.P. Recorded on May 25, 1849, by J.S. Bradwell, Clerk.
