On March 7, 1849, Wm. [William] J. Way of Chatham County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $1000 to George W. Walthour, trustee for Mary E. Parsons, Liberty County, “the following named negro slaves viz Prince and his wife Sarah Mariah and Jim [or Sim]…” Witnessed by Robert A. Lewis, J.I.C.C.C.. Recorded on April 16, 1849, by J.S. Bradwell, Clerk. [NOTE: Written on the deed was “Satisfied in full March 1 1850. G.W. Walthour, Trustee. Recorded June 10 1850. J.S. Bradwell, Clerk.”]
