On May 1, 1849, Benjamin S. Screven used as collateral on a promissory note of $700 to Mrs. Barbara Scriven [alt: Screven] “the following negroe slaves viz. Daniel, Patience, Paul…” Witnessed by W.E. Scriven, Thos. S. Mallard before E.H. Bacon Not. Pub. Recorded on May 19, 1849, by J.S. Bradwell.
