Enslaved Persons Named: Rachel, Adam

On February 28, 1848, John Coleman, attorney for Thomas B. Coleman “of the state and county aforesaid,” sold to Irwin Rahn for $340 “the following property viz two negro children the one a girl between seven and eight years old named Rachel the other a boy named Adam about five years of age.” Witnessed by R.Q. Andrews, J.P. Recorded on April 14, 1847, by J.S. Bradwell, Clerk.  [NOTE: Below this deed was a statement signed by William Coleman relinquishing to Irwin Rahn any claim he might have to Rachel and Adam.]
