Enslaved Persons Named: Tenah

On February 26, 1849, Thomas J. Shepard and his wife, Serena Shepard, sold to Colonel James S. Bradwell, Liberty County, for $300 “our Cook woman Tenah together with the future issue and increase of the said Tenah,” with the permission of Serena Shepard’s trustees Mr. Wm. Jones and Dr. Samuel Way, both of Liberty County. Witnessed by Martin Ryals, Samuel Rowe, C. Hines J.I.C. Recorded on March 24, 1849, by J.S. Bradwell, Clerk.
